Formerly a site devoted to Tampa Bay’s music scene, Tampastica’s is a li’l web oasis that has expanded from just covering music to feature a wide range of regional sights and sounds. While locally focused, news and pop culture from outside Central West Florida’s metro may seep in from time to time.
Expect features, opinion pieces, informational tidbits and photojournals on distinctive personalities, pop culture tidbits, unexpected locales and other ephemera.
Author Julie Garisto is a freelance arts and entertainment editor based in Clearwater, Florida. She has been on staff at Tampa-based alt-newsweekly Creative Loafing and the Pulitzer-winning Tampa Bay Times. In the early 2000s, she covered local music extensively, bringing life to tbt’s Meet the Band profile, its Soundboard weekly music guide and the Ultimate Local Band Guide. Now she’s working from home and is enrolled in University of Tampa’s Creative Writing Low Residency MFA program.
